European automakers are seeking protection from the growing number of Japanese cars being made and sold in Europe. Any legislation to limit the Japanese auto industry's market share in Europe will only delay a much-needed revamping of the European auto industry.

Drive on the secret side: Britain's car designers and engineers
Article Abstract:
British companies are often used by Japanese manufacturers to design and engineer automobiles. International Automotive Design, Group Lotus, Cosworth, T and N and other UK firms play a much bigger role in the automobile industry than the public suspect.
