Comrades adrift: army moves to cut links with Khmer Rouge

Article Abstract:

The Army of Thailand is dropping its affiliations with the Khmer Rouge party as a gesture towards the new government of Cambodia. The Khmer Rouge occupy land along the border of the two countries, and the Cambodian government has an unresolved political and military conflict with the party. Thai Army commanders who have close ties to the Khmer Rouge are being sent to other areas. General Wimol, head of the Thai Army, is supporting the official Thai policy of no favoritism towards unelected parties.

Article Abstract:

Thai officials are wary of the Jan 1993 offensive done by the Cambodia government against Khmer Rouge guerillas.
