Luxury consumers like it different

Article Abstract:

Importers of luxury items continue to benefit from the robust US economy. However, consumer tastes for luxury items have changed from the conspicuous-consumption of the 1980s decade to the more subtle form of consumption. Consumers have become more selective, demanding and knowledgeable. They are getting increasingly drawn to merchandise that is unique and only offered in limited distribution. This trend is reflected across several categories of products from expensive, luxury apparel to value-priced toys.

Article Abstract:

The trend toward a single global marketplace has given rise to numerous opportunities towards investing on an international scale. The prospect of diversified investments to a number of established and emerging markets around the world offers a means of spreading and reducing risks on investments. However, as risks are always present in any business dealing, a prospective investor is advised to look overseas only after establishing a well-diversified portfolio that is still primarily rooted in US securities.
