What do exporters think of FSCs?

Article Abstract:

A survey of (and follow-up interviews with) financial executives from 104 Fortune 500 exporters (including 42 of Fortune's top 50 exporters) and 226 other exporting companies indicates negative reactions to foreign sales corporations and the related export incentives. Reasons for this negativity include: unstable market conditions, vague regulations, foreign presence requirements, decreased tax savings (when compared to former domestic international sales corporation operations), and increases in administrative costs of operation. By comparison, the old DISC (domestic international sales corporation) may have been a better vehicle for conducting export activities than the new foreign sales corporation.
