Gencor, an amalgamation of mining, paper, drug, retail trade, and other industries, has announced its intention to spin off its non-mining operations to its shareholders. The action is being taken partly in response to the African National Congress's antitrust policy.

Czechoslovakia plans to privatize 1,200 state-owned firms through a computerized auction scheduled to begin on May 18, 1992. Over 75% of Czechoslovakia's adult population has paid the over 1000 koruna fee to participate in the unique voucher privatization program.
