Thomas Cook plans to rebrand its tourism units

Thomas Cook Group Ltd., a travel and tourism company located in the UK, announced that it plans to regroup and rebrand five of its tour operating and charter airline operations under a new collective name. Management stated it would launch a new brand, JMC, to create a uniform structure for its package tour and charter airline businesses.

Virgin America to start flying midsummer

The U.S. Department of Transportation has ruled that Virgin America Inc. meets foreign ownership requirements, enabling the low-cost airline to begin flying passengers by this summer. Virgin America was founded by Richard Branson, a British billionaire whose ventures include Virgin Group Ltd.

BA grounds Concorde as probe advances

British Airways has suspended flights of its Concorde aircraft as aviation officials conduct a probe the July 2000 crash that killed 113 people in France. Officials in the UK and France will call for the termination of the Concorde's airworthiness certificate.
