Testing an uncertainty model for women with multiple sclerosis
Article Abstract:
Nurses should focus on the management of uncertainty surrounding a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS), helping patients develop better self-esteem and greater control over their lives. A model designed to assess adaptation to the uncertainty of MS was tested on 90 women with MS. Researchers found that spiritual and social relationships helped reduce the uncertainty and worry associated with MS, especially when a new image for sufferers could be formed.
