Toshiba's earnings soar on real estate, stake sale

Second quarter/first fiscal quarter net profit for Toshiba Corp. increased fivefold, reaching $173.6 mil. The rise was booted by special profits from the sale of its EMI Group PLC stake and real estate deals. Operating profit increased by 1.6%, and revenue rose 15%.
