Transform struggles with material shortage

Article Abstract:

Transform Lazne Bohdanec (Lazne Bohdanec, Czech Republic), PET-bottle processor, is struggling with a lack of separated waste as a raw-material in 2000. Therefore the company is utilizing only 70% of its capacity. To use its full capacity, the company would need more imported waste but the imports are declining. In 1999 the firm processed 2,600 t of plastic waste from the Czech Republic. Another domestic PET-bottle processor is Transform Stod (TS) (Stod, Czech Republic), which has a processing capacity of 5,000 t per year. The company is able to utilize only 50% of its capacity because it cannot find sufficient demand for recycled products.

Taiwan's Evergreen Marine Corp has managed to remain profitable despite Asia's economic crisis. The world's second largest carrier based on cargo capacity can attribute its success in part to its huge volume of business since economies of scale enable it to reduce its operating costs. Evergreen has also managed to remain profitable because of its strategy of keeping its ships busy all over the world to escape the Asian turmoil.

No shortage of senior debt

Article Abstract:

There are many providers of senior debt in Leeds and Bradford, and supply is now greater than demand, despite a rise in demand over recent months. Businesses are tending to focus on degearing and repaying, rather than on gearing up and facing the uncertainties which are associated with borrowing. However, banks are very willing to provide senior debt, and this is matched by the strength of the local venture capital industry.
