True North seeks successor to CEO Mason

Article Abstract:

True North Communications announced that its chief executive officer Bruce Mason would be retiring at the end of March 1999. The advertising firm also said that it has not chosen someone to replace him yet. True North is the sixth-largest advertising firm in the world. Mr. Mason's retirement was to officially begin at the end of February 1999, which is when his contract was to expire. However, he agreed to stay as CEO past that date if True North's board wanted him to.

Ad giant McCann names Heekin as president, CEO

Article Abstract:

James R. Heekin was appointed as McCann-Erickson Worldwide's president and chief executive officer. The appointment is an attempt by the ad agency to continuing attracting new clients. McCann-Erickson has been conducting efforts to expand beyond 30-second television ads. Mr. Heekin is replacing John Dooner. Mr. Dooner will remain as McCann-Erickson Worldgroup's chairman and chief executive. McCann is the largest ad agency in the world.
