Article Abstract:
The Turkish Electricity Generation and Transmission Corporation has issued an invitation to tender for the supply and installation of two 380 kV electric lines. The first line, which is to be 170 kilometres long, will connect Denizli to Varsak and the second, 150 kilometres long will connect Sanliurfa with Kiziltepe II. The contract involves the studies, the supply of pylons and lines, the trials, the assembly, and putting them into service. The closing date for tenders is 8 October 1998, before 2.00 pm. Sotel, a steel industry cooperative provides about 35% of Luxembourg's electricity supply (for the steel industry and railroads), Cedegel supplies 65% of Luxembourg's electricity, to around 128,000 clients. Cegedel, founded in 1928, is a concession company which has signed an agreement with the government. It employs around 500 people and imports electricity, 90% from Germany. It has also been involved in new and renewable energy production and cogeneration (electricity and steam) for several years.

MAURITIUS: LIGHT RAIL PROJECT IS BEHIND SCHEDULE
Article Abstract:
The project to build a light metro on the island of Mauritius is lagging behind. Although the three candidates interested in this project - Adtranz, Alstom, and Bombardier (in association with Bouygues) - expected to receive the invitation to tender dossiers at the end of October 1999, this was initially postponed to January 2000. The light metro project involving construction and network management, will be carried out on the basis of Build Operate Transfer (BOT).
