EUROPE: MUTUAL FUND INDUSTRY GROWS IN 2000
Article Abstract:
In 2000, the European mutual fund industry rose 5.2%, attributed mainly by equity funds, up GBu 104bn to GBu 899.8bn, according to the European Funds Industry Directory 2001. Bond fund assets were down 8.9% to GBu 473.4bn. Total fund assets in France, Germany and the UK grew, while a decline was reported by Italy. The total number of new funds in 2000 reached 2460, of which 1228 was accounted for by equity, with 343 by balanced, 369 by bonds, and 268 fund of funds. France boasted the highest number of new funds at 450.

UK: Henderson reorganises offshore funds
Article Abstract:
Henderson Global Investors is to close two funds and launch nine new ones as part of the restructuring of its Horizon offshore range. The revamping means that the Luxembourg-based umbrella fund will encompass a total of 21 sub-funds, including new funds Global Equity, the European High Yield Bond, American Equity and Pan-European Equity. The Horizon India fund and the Horizon Central and Eastern European fund will be discontinued.
