US Filter floods into Europe

Article Abstract:

Water treatment systems supplier US Filter of Palm Desert, CA, became the leading company in its field worldwide during 1990-1996 through various acquisitions under the management of Chief Executive and Chairman Richard J Heckmann. Turnover grew to $473 million in the year to Mar 31 1996 from $62.8 million in 1992, with the company previously suffering losses of $20 million. US Filter made 50 acquisitions during 1990-1997, mainly comprising under-performing companies which were being sold off as part of restructuring strategies by major firms.

Nottingham, England, has developed into a thriving commercial centre for the East Midlands. It has attracted many financial advisers and professional organizations that work with the business community. There is constant expansion of the capability and credibility of the city's corporate finance professionals as more boutiques are established there. All the Big Five accounting firms now have offices in Nottingham, with top law firms in the city including Shoosmiths, Browne Jacobson and Freeth Cartwright.

Switzerland outshines its neighbour

Article Abstract:

Switzerland's stability and its welcoming attitude to acquisitions by foreign companies have led to an active M&A market at home and abroad. In contrast, Austria's M&A market has been smaller and less active, although its future looks promising.
