U.S. consumers pose threat: What if they stop spending?

Article Abstract:

Consumer spending in the United States has slowed and further lack of spending could savage world equity markets, particularly China. Consumer spending by Americans is being effected by rising interest rates, debt service charges of 13.6 percent, and new personal-bankruptcy legislation. Personal wealth would also be less if the bottom falls out of the housing market as home valuation would be decreased.

Dollar comeback upsets equation

Article Abstract:

United States Dollars investment in foreign stock markets was forecast as a good bet, foreign exchanges were expected to rise and the weak Dollar was to exchange in profit when translated from stronger foreign currencies. The foreign markets have performed strongly, however the value of the Dollar has strengthened, rising 12 percent against the Euro.
