U.S. hopes to resolve WTO dispute

Article Abstract:

Grant Aldonas, the U.S. Commerce Undersecretary, said that a trade dispute over American exporters' tax breaks will be resolved in early 2004. The World Trade Organization claims that the tax break violates global trade rules.

EU panel moves on patent law

A European Union panel is moving?closer?towards establishing a pan-European software patents standard. The standard would be more strict than codes in the U.S., although it would lead to another dispute with that country.
