Une eau tr s pr cieuse

Article Abstract:

Chateldon sparkling water sold 363,000 bottles in 1997, less than 1% of the turnover from the Castel group's mineral water branch. Louis XIV drank this water, the first mineral water operated in France, and it is now on the menu of prestigious restaurants where it is priced at FFr 35 per bottle. The Castel group appears to favour elitist production and distribution. The bottling plant operates only every other month, and the company does not plan to expand the distribution of this product, which at present is available only in very select restaurants and at the Nicolas wine and spirits merchant, which also belongs to the Castel group.
