Usinor's profit this half won't match earlier pace
Article Abstract:
Usinor SA Chairman Francis Mer said that the company's 1998 profit will increase from 2.1 billion in 1997, although the company expects the trend in the second half of 1998 to slow down. The company, which inaugurated its latest galvanized steel production line, also projects that its acquisition of Cockerill Sambre of Belgium will improve its profit in 1999. Cockerill's addition to the French firm is also expected to create synergies that would result in 8.5 billion Belgian francs, once Cockerill had injected 24 billion Belgian francs in the next five years.
