Vernacular man
Article Abstract:
UK architecture historian Paul Oliver has published a book on the history of people's architecture, entitled Encyclopedia of Vernacular Architecture of the World. Oliver collated over 100 line drawings, 80 maps and 1700 photographs for the 3 volume hardback, which cost 695 pounds sterling. He hopes new developments will be influenced by his book, which has examples of architecture from around the world. Oliver believes society has been let down by architects, who fail communities and concentrate too much on unrealistic work.
