Cultural distance, geographic distance, the research mandate and the market mandate of the local R&D unit are the four contingency factors that influence team utilization.Many organizations are increasingly using and employing such teams in daily operations.

Article Abstract:
The impact of cooperative research and development among vertically related firms in the presence of horizontal and vertical spillovers on social welfare is addressed. The advantages and disadvantages of such R&D are investigated.
