Vtech's new phones may wake up dormant shares

Article Abstract:

VTech Holdings Ltd. is fast becoming one of the major manufacturers of cordless telephones. VTech foresees triple phone sales between 1995 and 1998 and total revenue of more than $1 billion by 2000. As the company increases its sales of cordless telephones, the value of its stocks is also likely to grow. VTech's factory complex in Southern China is running at full capacity and a plan to build a new factory thrice the size of the current facility is being considered.

CCT Telecom targets China

Article Abstract:

CCT Telecom of Hong Kong formed a joint-venture agreement with China Communications System Co to establish a digital mobile telephone network in the city of Taiyuan in Shanxi, China. The agreement is a breakthrough in Chinese telecommunications, which is often characterized as resistant to foreign investments. CCT Telecom is also expected to form a cooperative contract with China United Telecommunications Corp. to operate mobile-phone service network.

Motorola positions itself for growth in Asia

Article Abstract:

Motorola Inc of Schambaugh, IL, is expanding its operations in Asia even as the region's markets falter and the company closes its US factories. The company's construction pushes through on a $750 mil high-technology plant in Tianjin, China, that will be superior to other Motorola manufacturing plant outside the US. The company hopes that its expansion plans will allow the company to regain its dominant position in Asia.
