Waiting time in the Arab world

Article Abstract:

The Israeli cabinet has endorsed the Wye agreement with Palestinians, following a call from President Bill Clinton to the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu. Clinton was planning a possible military strike against Iraq, and lack of endorsement of the agreement would have been an embarrassment. There is a strong link between Israeli-Arab relations and Iraq, and the US is better able to tackle criticism of its policies toward Iraq if there is progress between Israel and the Palestinians.
