Chief Executive Adam Bodnar led a management buyout team which acquired the nuclear and aerospace consultancy divisions of Ricardo Group, Ricardo Aerospace and Ricardo Hitec in Feb 1997. Banque Indosuez acted as the clearing bank and was impressed by the team's business knowledge and track record. The team changed the company's name to INBIS Group. The group is maintaining investment in staff training and design support technology. It has a global workforce of more than 700, comprising subcontracted and salaried employees, and has a turnover of 30 million pounds sterling.

Independent environmental consultancy RPS Group has seen strong growth since 1994, with turnover reaching $42.4 million in 1998. It has become particularly skilled in environmental due diligence, with this work being international in scope. It provided advice on deals involving 36 countries in 1998, and has shown a strong ability to provide reliable technical advice in commercial terms. It now has more than 600 employees in 22 offices in the Netherlands, the UK and Ireland.
