Weyerhaeuser posts jump in net as pulp and paper prices firm

Weyerhaeuser Co. posted higher-than-expected earnings for the third-quarter of 1999. The company posted $237 million (222.6 million) in net income for the quarter. This represented a twofold improvement over the same period in 1998. During the same period in 1998, Weyerhaeuser posted $110 million in net income. The company's sales rose from $2.74 billion to $3.12 billion.
