Article Abstract:
The Scotch Whiskey Association is lobbying politicians in Britain, trying to get them to lower what they consider to be unfairly high duties on whiskey. This is not to blame for the whiskey industry's woes though, as younger Britons seem to prefer clear spirits.

Lamenting Lamont
Article Abstract:
Lamont proposed a budget that includes modest taxes that will leave the budget deficit standing at 39 billion pounds sterling during 1996-97. The budget was a disappointment to stock markets, and prices began to drop after the budget was presented.
