Who owns architecture?

Article Abstract:

Architects should ensure they have clearly specified their long term aims for the buildings which they are designing. In the United Kingdom, the architect does not hold the legal rights to designs before they are accepted and cannot easily prevent future alterations to buildings. Six different sets of plans that were submitted to complete Bury St Edmunds Cathedral, United Kingdom, have caused controversy as they all used aspects of a former architect's work.

Past, present and future of the Royal Festival Hall

Article Abstract:

The Twentieth Century Society instigated a symposium to consider the future of popular post war buildings in the UK in relation to their history. Accounts of the Festival Hall's beginnings in 1948 and transformation in 1964 were given. Also discussed was the artist's role in redeveloping the the Festival Hall site.

New Town artistry

Article Abstract:

Artist Victor Pasmore was extensively involved in the New Town of Peterlee, England, for 23 years from 1954. The abstraction of his vision is particularly clear in the Apollo Pavilion, which was completed in 1970. This building is now suffering from neglect.
