Who really runs it?
Article Abstract:
The main political party supporting the rule of Yugoslav presidnet, Slobodan Milosevic, is the Serbian Socialist Party. He is also supported by The Yugoslav Left, or orthodox communist party of his wife, Mira Markovic. The Serbian Radical Party, an extreme-nationalist organization, supports the Socialist party in the Serbian parliament, while the monarchist Serbian Renewal Movement backs the Socialists in the federal parliament. The opposition has become quiet. The West was hoping for divisions within the ruling coalition as a result of the bombing, but the opposite appears to be true.

Fear of greenery
Article Abstract:
The new German chancellor, Gerhard Schroder, is seen as likely to press strongly for German interests, and a Green foreign minister, Joschka Fischer, may be chosen. The Greens who exercise most weight in the party have ended their demands to dissolve Germany's army and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, but some of Schroder's Social Democrat party are concerned about the impact on Germany's allies of having a Green foreign minister. Schroder may be more enthusiastic about the European Union than Helmut Kohl, and concerns about his stance may be exaggerated.

Could it be Ricardo Lagos?
Article Abstract:
Ricardo Lagos is seeking to become president of Chile in elections to be held in 1999. He has been a government minister and has strong support in opinion polls, though this is no guarantee that he will become president. He is encouraging younger Chileans to vote, and favors positive discrimination in areas such as health and education. The coalition parties have agreed to support a single coalition candidate, and Lagos has to beat Andres Zaldivar, his main rival.
