Asian financial companies must not only regard the regional currency crisis a devastating experience, but an opportunity to renew conventional accounting practices, as well. By employing a business-audit methodology, financial companies may not be able to meet the needs of modern accounting, while lessening their exposure to market risks. The approach, popularized by Arthur Andersen accounting company, centers on efficient knowledge management and business operations strategies.

The economic turmoil in Asia will be much more serious than expected. Though much of the attention so far has been concentrated on external balances, the extent of the difficulty can be seen in the respective domestic economies. Asia can only regain continued and substantial investor confidence if the region begins restructuring its banks in order to enable stakeholders to earn greater incentives.
