Article Abstract:

The significance of the Public Finance Initiative and Public Private Partnerships in the procurement of public buildings and the culture of architecture, and the gap between their ambition and delivery is reviewed. PFI, the ingenious financial mechanism has changed the world of architectures and contractors, for some good reasons like giving a new attention to lifetime costs.

A small site, but a big idea

Article Abstract:

A proposal for massive housebuilding for key workers in the Thames Gateway by the U.K. government and housebuilding sector is discussed. The alternative site at Camden has become a political battleground among the local authorities that are keen only on planning and not on building.
