Young & Rubicam names outsider Bell as new CEO

Article Abstract:

Young & Rubicam Inc. has appointed Thomas Bell Jr. to be its new chief executive officer (CEO). Mr. Bell's appointment goes into effect on January 1, 2000. Mr. Bell was appointed as CEO after Chief Operating Officer Edward Vick decided that he did not want the post. Instead., Mr. Vick will add the new title of chief creative counsel to his portfolio. Mr. Bell is 49 years of age.

True North to discuss merger of units

Article Abstract:

True North Communications will decide soon as to whether or not to merge all or some of its units. The agency is also considering merging just its overseas or other units of its Foote, Cone and Belding and Bozell Worldwide divisions.
