Tenet Healthcare open for business
Article Abstract:
Tenet Healthcare (Santa Barbara, CA) bought eight hospitals that made up Allegheny health system's southeastern hospital chain for $345m. To show it's commitment to the area, Tenet Healthcare has assigned a new officer to oversea the facilities. Tenet also staged events to show its commitment to keeping the hospitals open, such as renaming all the hospitals to the names they had prior to becoming part of Allegheny. Staff were also told via a cable link up that Tenet plans to keep all hospitals open. As part of the deal, Drexel University will operate one of the hospitals as part of the University's medical education program. Some concern still exists about retaining care for the poor and uninsured in the area.
