Amtrak promises free ride if service misses the mark
Article Abstract:
Amtrak will offer passengers free rides if service fails to meet national standards. The service standards, soon to be published, will address customer treatment, timeliness, and railcar condition, according to new Amtrak president George Warrington. The free ride credits will be valued at the price of the ticket on the leg on which the customer dissatisfaction occured. The customer service intitiative is designed to draw attention to the new Acela Express service to be launched in late 1999.
