Centeon says Ill. plasma plant will reopen
Article Abstract:
Centeon LLC of King Prussia, PA, has announced that its blood plasma protein plant in Kankakee, IL, will resume operations after the completion of the improvements required by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Centeon, a joint venture of Hoechst AG of Germany and Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, a unit of Rhone-Poulenc S.A. of France, made the announcement to counter speculations in Paris, France, that the facility will cease operation permanently. The Kankakee plant, which represents 40% of Centeon's manufacturing capacity, had been required by the FDA to make several improvements to reduce possible viral contamination. Centeon has other manufacturing plants in Spain, Austria and Germany.
