Disney investors unlikely to accept Comcast bid - yet

Experts view that investors in Walt Disney Co. were unlikely to accept an initial offer by Comcast Corp. to buy the entertainment company, but a higher bid could change their minds. Meanwhile, Disney's stock rose by about 1.5 percent at the news, and chief executive officer Michael Eisner fielded questions from analysts at the company's annual investor meeting in Orlando on February 12, 2004.

Comcast Corp. launch a bid to acquire Walt Disney Co., Microsoft Corp. as Microsoft is interested in cementing relationships in the cable and entertainment field as it works toward putting its software inside the digital cable boxes, television sets, and other entertainment gadgets of the future. Microsoft is Comcast's largest shareholder, with a 7.4 percent stake in the company.
