'Green' power still carries premium price: Thousands in Pa, N.J. willingly pay more for electricity from renewable sources. Critics call it a costly mistake
Article Abstract:
Green Mountain Energy Co. has 80,000 customers in Pennsylvania and approximately 2,000 New Jersey customers, who pay extra to buy its electricity, which is supposed to be cleaner energy. However, critics claim that renewable energy is not reliable, is not efficient, and does not compare economically to power supplies that already exist.
