Worker's fear for hospital's life
Article Abstract:
Kensington, Penn.-based Episcopal Hospital, which is owned by Temple University Health System, may be forced to close its doors due to continuing financial problems. Officials from the 140-bed facility, who denied they will close down the hospital, testified at a City Council health and human services subcommittee hearing. Episcopal Hospital, which reported $10.7 million in losses for fiscal 1998, has projected losses of $13 million for the next fiscal year.

Pa. bypass operations are fewer but better, study finds

Reports suggest that the quality of heart bypass surgery in hospitals across Pennsylvania has improved even as the number of procedures has declined. The Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council had stated that patientEs death following bypass surgery fell significantly in 2002 compared with 2000, as did hospital admissions.
