Chester Engineers has expanded its water-treatment reach since it has been acquired by US Filter, a water-treatment business based in Palm Dessert, CA. According to Chester President John Lucey and CEO Tony Lisanti, the firm has grown into everything they though it would be. Chester has not only increased the number of its employees to 320, but it has also raised its revenues to $50 million in 1997 since US Filter acquired the firm on Apr. 30, 1997. Chester Engineers has also secured contracts to supply water treatment equipment abroad, such as the contract with Culligan Water Technologies to supply equipment to the Republic of Turkemenistan.

Climbing to the top: scaffolding fabricator puts its platforms all over the place
Article Abstract:
Universal Manufacturing Corp. has placed its steel scaffolding platforms in a lot of places. The scaffolding platforms manufactured by the Zelienople, PA-based company has graced the US Capitol, the Washington Monument and New York's World Trade Center. Closer to its corporate headquarters, its scaffolding has been utilized at the new Lazarus department store, the new Kaufmann's close to Robinson Town Centre and along the pedestrian walkway over Forbes Avenue at Duquesne University. The company was founded in 1934 by C.W. Carbeau, who bought a Blairville, PA-based scaffold company and transferred it to Zelienople.

DiGioia Jr. The company, started in 1958, has diversified its services to include site planning, land use studies, environmental impact statements and design of bridges and highways. GAI Consultants has approximately 300 employees and offices in Monroeville, Charleston, West VA, Fort Wayne, IN, Montgomery County in Alabama and Chile. GAI and its affiliate firm GAI Companies have a combined annual revenue of around $30 million, according to DiGioia Jr.
