Article Abstract:
Architect David Childs believes that his design for the new Pennsylvania Station in New York will revive public interest in the pleasure derived from expansive public spaces. He recognizes that the original station was built in a time when train travel was as much a ceremony as a practical endeavor. He believes that the revival of interest in living in an urban environment will make Penn Station a more relevant part of people's lives.
