Industry forces fuel Ace-Cigna deal
Article Abstract:
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Cigna Corp. will be acquired by Bermuda-based Ace Ltd. for $3.45 billion. The merger agreement, which must be approved by regulators in seven US states and the island nation of Bermuda, may be finalized by summer 1999. bout 9,000 Cigna workers will be transferred to Ace if the merger deal is closed. The Ace chairman said the company would move its headquarters to Philadelphia.
