Court upholds Verizon break-up
Article Abstract:
The state Public Utility Commission ruled in 1999 that Verizon Communications Inc. must split its Pennsylvania telephone services operations into two companies. Verizon, which lost an appeal with the Commonwealth Court, is considering an appeal to the state Supreme Court.

RCN pulls cable-TV proposal

Princeton's RCN Corp. withdrew its bid to construct a $250 million cable-TV and telephone network in the northern part of Philadelphia, blaming the action on delays with the City Council.
