QVC buys a piece of The Knot
Article Abstract:
QVC Inc. (West Chester, Pennsylvania) will announce today its purchase of a part of The Knot, an online wedding registry. QVC is a television shopping channel but wants to expand its business in the direction of online retailing. This is QVC's first investment but it will probably not be its last. QVC will now have access to the 900,000 customers that shop on the Knot each month. QVC also hopes that the Knot, which has been in business since August, will have an initial public offering soon. The Knot offers 5,000 products online. QVC's purchase of part of an online shopping company is indicative of cable television's growing interest in internet sales.
