Safeguard exec to form own fund
Article Abstract:
The president of Safeguard Scientifics Inc., Donald R. Caldwell, is planning to depart from the company in order to form his own US-European venture fund. The 52-year old Caldwell stated that several investors are ready to participate in the formation of the projected $200 million North Atlantic Technology Fund. By June 1999, the fund is scheduled to open branches in Dublin and Philadelphia. Mr. Caldwell was expected to be the successor to Warren "Pete" Musser, who was Safeguard's founder and chief executive officer.

Eugene Peroni Jr. is leaving Janney Montgomery Scott for Rittenhouse Financial which is a subsidiary of John Nuveen & Co. Nuveen will put Peroni on a national and international platform for its move into equities. Peroni said his departure from Janney as its chief technical analyst was amicable.
