IRS to get tough on 'high-risk' tax evaders
Article Abstract:
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will be getting tougher on high-risk evaders especially those seeking to hide wealth in offshore tax havens. The IRS is asking Congress to increase its current $10.2 billion budget by five percent for 2005 and is working to change a culture of risk aversion among employees that set in after bruising congressional hearings in 1997.
