Tile plant sees future in waste materials
Article Abstract:
A Delaware County, Pennsylvania recycling business hopes to establish a porcelain tile manufacturing plant on a former landfill. New Morgan Borough, which split from nearby townships in 1988, will host The Terradyne Group's plant on land leased from waste-disposal company Browning-Ferris Industries. The business, initially expected to cost $117 million to construct, will acquire employees from the local workforce. Using a method patented by Vortec Corp, Terradyne Group will manufacture the tiles from industrial waste, methane gas and wastewater located on the premises. While the venture appears promising, some nearby residents are apprehensive of further construction in the area.

DuPont seeking alliance in drugs
Article Abstract:
DuPont Co.'s new plan for the millenium is the development and enhancement of its life sciences division. The life sciences division is made up of pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, genetically altered seeds, and crop protection. DuPont hopes to align itself with companies in the pharmaceutical industry squelching rumors of a DuPont-Monsanto Corp merger. With their life sciences division outperforming DuPont overall, the company plans to offer a tracking stock by the year 2000, giving investors the option to buy separate stock in different areas rather than the entire company.
