Warm weather is bad news for propane-reliant UGI
Article Abstract:
Valley Forge, PA-based UGI Corp., which once owned almost 100 utilities and other firms, now mostly sells propane and natural gas for heating. AmeriGas Partners LP., UGI's propane unit, has suffered from above normal temperatures in all of its regions in all but one of the years between 1988 and 1997. The company relies on propane for roughly two-thirds of its revenues. This is compared with less than one-quarter from natural gas.
