WorldGate Communications Inc (Bensalem, PA) will offer its interactive television service in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania in fall 1999. WorldGate's Internet service runs on television sets connected via cable boxes. The deployment in Willow Grove, through Comcast Corp, will be the first commercial use of interactive television in the area, although Comcast has been testing the new Internet service in Lower Merion, Pennsylvania. Comcast will offer a General Instrument digital set-top box in conjunction with the interactive TV service.
