ADMET-turning chemicals into drugs
Article Abstract:
For drug developers, the major challenge is to quickly resolve the toxicological and pharmacokinetic properties of drug candidates. Drug firms are now developing new ways to "weed out" dangerous drugs from useful chemicals. The companies are forming a picture of what is the right definition of absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination (ADME) characteristics in drugs.

Curagen lays down markers, 120,000 of them

New Haven, CT-based Curagen Corp. recently announced that it had identified in excess of 55,000 new single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from its research in resequencing human expressed sequences. Investors were pleased, as the company classified its announcement as "landmark" and stock prices were caused to rise approximately one third.
