Advertising for Information: The 800 Connection
A telemarketing program can also become an in-house market research group by combining information gathering with marketing. The 800 telephone number can be used to qualify leads to gather information. Training of personnel is important if you are going to make the most of the 800 number. Product service, listening skills, conversational skills and strategy are needed by employees to handle the 800 calls. Follow-up and timing are essential in order to get the sale. Information gleaned from these calls will help in developing further the telemarketing program.

Major appliances: survivors of the '80s: major appliance shipments will rise 2 to 4 percent in '81
Sales for major appliances are thought to be on rise for 1981. The reasons for this optimism are the rise in working women and single-family households, the baby boom children are reaching the age where they will be setting up households, a lack of saturation in the market for certain appliances, and replacement buying.
