Identifying the best market prospects for US agricultural exports
Article Abstract:
Two econometric models are used to identify the top 10 market prospects for US agricultural exports up to 1994. The first market assessment model is a modified FAS while the second, called the SR model, considers additional variables aside from the trade-related factors used in the FAS model. Both models predict Mexico as the best market prospect for US agricultural products. Other countries regarded by the SR model as good market prospects are Hong Kong, Guyana, Canada, Japan, Turkey, France, Thailand, South Korea and Costa Rica.
