Alternate forms of the critical power test for ramp exercise

Article Abstract:

Alternate forms of the critical power (CP) test for ramp exercise were derived. Three of the four forms obtained were found to produce equivalent estimates for anaerobic work capacity (AWC) and CP. Two-way analyses of variance was to test the two parameters for inter-subject and inter-equation form differences. It was found that consistent estimates of AWC and CP can be obtained from any of the three, but the third equation was shown to be the simplest and most natural to apply.

Determination of peak oxygen uptake during upper body exercise

Article Abstract:

The repeatability of an upper body exercise test was determined. Two upper body exercise test protocols, namely, 60 and 70 rev per min, were compared. It was found that the 60 rev per min protocol can be employed to reliably measure VO2 peak. However, the 70 rev per min protocol was recommended as the appropriate method of oxygen peak uptake determination. It was observed to produce greater VO2 peak and have maximum power at a shorter test duration.

The effects of music tempo and loudness level on treadmill exercise

Article Abstract:

The effects of loudness and tempo of background music on treadmill exercise performance are investigated. The results have confirmed that fast and loud music might be played to enhance optimal exercising and show how loudness and tempo interact.
