An acquisition-hungry Granada bares its teeth

Article Abstract:

Granada may be spurred into making a bid for another TV company by the planned merger of United News and Media and Carlton, especially if British media law is changed, allowing for easier consolidation. A possible target for Granada is Scottish Media, in which Granada already holds a stake of 18.9%. The broadcasting acts are renewed after five years periods, and the last act was passed in 1996. A new act which relaxes ownership laws is likely, and this could lead to the creation of a single ITV company.
